Transportation
Our counselors can assist you with information about available transportation options in your area for these categories:

Public and Fixed Route Transportation
A fixed route system provides designated public transportation in vans or buses along a prescribed route according to a set schedule. METRA of Columbus is our only fixed route service provider. For more information on this service, please click here. For persons requiring ADA compliant paratransit options, please click here. There is a small charge for either of the METRA options.

County-Based Senior Transportation
County Based Senior Transportation provides round trips in vans or buses to the twelve (12) senior centers in Harris, Talbot, Muscogee, Stewart, Randolph, Clay, Taylor, Macon, Marion, Dooly, Crisp, and Sumter Counties through DHS Rural Transit System. For more information on this service please contact your county senior center.

Specialized
Senior Transportation
Medical Transportation is round trip rides to and from appointments to a medical provider for seniors on a limited basis. Riders can expect to travel in vans or buses. For more information on this service, please call the Aging and Disability Resource Connection at 706-256-2900 or 1-800-615-4379.

Other Transportation Options
Some counties have rideshare options available such as Uber and Lyft. With rideshare, a passenger travels in a private vehicle driven by its owner, for a fee, arranged through a website or app. To use this type of service, passengers must first download the Uber or Lyft app from their app store to their smart phone or computer. See how to use rideshare apps below.
For more information regarding transportation options please call us at 1-800-615-4379 and speak to one of our counselors.
